2010 Amsterdam Flower Market – Cannabis

Sarah Martin has Multiple Sclerosis and, while the British government sells British manufactured cannabis medicines to other countries, it continues to deny it to it’s own patients. Countries such as Germany and Denmark purchase Sativex, made by GW Pharmaceuticals, as pain and spasm relieving medicine. Sativex is a cannabis tincture, effectively a new strain of SKUNK in a bottle. The tax payer should not be asked to support the growth of a benign plant and manufacture of a medicine that can be grown for free. Basic common sense and medical guidance will allow the patient to treat themselves safely in their own homes. By the way, I’m voting for the Liberal Democrats as they have a more sensible and ultimately humane approach to drug policy.

Cannabis Based Medication Soon To Be Approved In The Uk

Author: Joe Smith  /  Category: GW PHARMACEUTICALS

It was announced earlier this week that GW Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company that has been the topic of conversation in the medical field due to its cannabis derived products, is soon to have their very first product on sale to the public if all goes according to plan. Last week this company announced that they had received sound approval from officials in the UK as well as Spain to say that there was no reason why their pharmaceutical medication should not be available on the market. The medication that this company has developed is called Sativex, a pharmaceutical drug that will treat spasticity in individuals suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

The UK regulators for this drug, which is not yet available to the public, say that all is safe with the drug and that there is no compromise on quality, even though the drug has derivative of cannabis in it. This is the first time that a medication will be sold that includes direct derivative of cannabis. The GW pharmaceutical corporation says that the plant is supposedly grown in areas around London but the company is keeping mum about its exact location. Much controversy has surrounded this product for obvious reasons and when employees have been questioned about their opinion, they admit that it is their clinical job and that they do not hold biased opinions.

The selling of this controversial drug will payout a large sum of money to Bayer Pharmaceuticals owing to the fact that they own shares in the company. Another partner, a Spanish pharmaceutical company, will also get a considerable payout from the approval of the drug. Pharmacovigilance will let this drug be sold not only in the UK but also other European countries.

This is not the end of the line for the drug however, there still has to be more testing and if all goes according to plan, the drug will be officially sold in three approximately three months. It seems that three months will not be much more of a delay for GW Pharmaceuticals as there have been numerous setbacks in the testing, manufacturing and approving of the drug that the company has had to overcome.

If all goes according to plan, this controversial pharmaceutical company will extend their use of cannabis from Savitex to other drugs which will include pain medication used for patients suffering from cancer. The release of this drug will really change the face of regulatory affairs in pharmaceuticals and who knows what next drug could contain cannabis?
